
Dr. Simón Levy Dabbah, PhD
Dr. Levy-Dabbah leads as the WAMS Chief Resilience Officer and is also appointed as the Vice President: Executive Chairman of the WAMS Economic Development for Urbanization, Public Policy, and Value Creation Division, Member of the WAMS Executive Council (WAMS Executive Board), an Honorary Member of the Academy, a Member of the WAMS Education & Training Board (ETB), a member of the WAMS Mexican Council, and a Member of the Academy Faculty at WAMS, The World Academy of Medical Sciences.
Appointed as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum since March 2013, and member of World Entrepreneurship Forum. Global Leader of the World Urban Forum 2015 and member of the Global Agenda Councils for the planning of the transport of the future by the World Economic Forum. Founder of the México – China lecture by UNAM, he was born in Mexico City, an undergraduate in Law with specialization in Foreign Commerce, from the Faculty of Law of the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)”. Graduated with honors.
He is specialist in Chinese Law by the Indiana University School of Law and the School of Law of the China Popular University. Master in International Management from the “Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM)” and the Graduate School of Business Administration of the ITESM in Mexico. Doctorate in Law of Public-Private Associations from the Faculty of Law of the “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)”. He has undertaken postgraduate studies in Private International Law from the International Law Academy in The Hague and in Business Creation and Internationalization from the Business Institute in Madrid. Also in Yale University, the School of Public Policies “Lee Kwan Yew” and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, on public policies and global leadership.
He participated in 2006 and 2012 as a member of the economic team of the presidential campaign of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He was a member of the transition team of the elect Head of Government for Mexico City, Dr. Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa, who after taking office, designated him on December 14th, 2012. as CEO of the government-owned company “Calidad de Vida, Progreso y Desarrollo para La Ciudad de México”, today ProCDMX, S.A. de C.V. “Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Development for Mexico City”. He was the first Mexican lawyer to obtain in 2005 his work permit in the People's Republic of China, allowing him to serve as a lawyer in that country.
He has worked for the Agency for the International Development of the United States in the Mexican Diplomatic Mission, to work afterward in the private sector getting into imports of goods from Asia. He collaborated with the World Bank, where he took part in the Global Forum of Corporate Governance, organized by the International Institute of Corporate Governance, Dr. Levy was President of Ideasia Fund, the first Investment Fund between Asia and Latin America, and prior to that, he was President of the Board of Directors of LatinAsia, company that globalized Mexican corporations, and generated alliances, attraction of foreign investment and joint ventures among Mexican and Asian companies. He has been Vice-president of the China Holding Investment Group, which develops the Real Estate Project “Latin American City” in China and was Vice-president of the Xinhua-LatinAsia Council.
He has been representative of the Consultive Council of the Commercial Practices Unit of the Mexican “Secretaría de Economía”. He has also been a consultant for the State of Chihuahua Government and for the Mexico City Government in matters of attracting foreign investment from Asia and China.
He's professor in the Constitutional Law Master's Degree by the UNAM, has been professor of the Constitutional Law I and II lectures from the Faculty of Law of the UNAM and of International Business from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
He's author of the books “It Started with a Letter”, from Editorial Letras Vivas, published in 2001, “Economic Globalization; How to do Succesful Business between Mexico and South America” Editorial ISEF, 2003, “China, the World's New Factory”, 2004, “En Route to China”, 2005, “The Micro Global Age”, 2009, as well as his first novel “Neonao”, published by Plaza y Váldez Editores in 2012.
He was selected as a member of the Club of Leaders of the Future of Mexico, from “Líderes de México” and is a member of the Mexican Council for International Affairs. Member of the Child Fund Mexico patronage.
Collaborator of diverse national and foreign publications on the subject matter of foreign commerce and economic aspects. Columnist for Forbes Mexico, animalpolitico.com, and the Mexican newspapers El Universal, Excelsior and Milenio.
