Dr. Jawad Fares, MD, MSc
Dr. Jawad Fares is a Lebanese physician and scientist. He received his MD from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine and attained an MSc in Neuropsychology from the Lebanese University Neuroscience Research Center. His interests mainly entail neurological sciences, conflict medicine and global health, and his research has hugely impacted victims of conflicts and war. He co-developed the “Fares Scale of Injuries due to Cluster Munitions” that helped assess submunition injuries based on functional impairment. This led to better classification of wounds and helped in administering the best possible treatment.
Dr. Fares has co-authored numerous publications and proceedings in international peer-reviewed journals and has received numerous honors and awards for his academic and research work. He was inducted into the 2018 FORBES 30 Under 30 Europe list in Science & Healthcare and the Forbes Middle East – Arab 30 Under 30. He was also selected among the top 10 young scientists in the world by the premier biotech journal, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News. The Lebanese University awarded him The NRC Medal of Honor “for his contribution to medicine and science,” and the Distinguished Pioneer Award “for his outstanding scientific achievements.”
In 2019, he was elected as a Fellow of WAMS for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences.
