Prof. Dr. Raghavendra Rao Morusupalli is the Chairman of the National Council of India, Senior Executive Vice-President, Fellow of the Academy, Member of the WAMS Faculty, and Member of the Executive Council.

Dr. Rao, Ph.D. (ANU), Ph.D. (World university)., D.Sc. (Hon), M.D, (Hon)(Medicine and Medical Education) (USA) is an eminent academician and researcher, a keen votary of medical education and research, and an able administrator and possesses nearly four and half decades of rich and satisfying teaching, research experience in Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Rao worked as a professor of Medical Microbiology, Parasitology, Immunology, and Virology in many universities, and many medical colleges in India, China, Nepal, Libya, Philippines, and also worked as Head of the Department of Diseases, Immunity, and Therapeutics (DIT), Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Research at Avalon University School of Medicine, Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, Central America. Currently, Professor Rao is working as Scientist, Emeritus, and Director of research in Central Research Laboratory, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Basing on his outstanding experience and research Dr. Rao was awarded M.D. (Medicine & Medical Education) (Honorary) from Avalon University, at Youngstown, Ohio, (USA) on May/21/2017.

He is one of very few Medical Microbiologist in India, conferred with an MD (Medicine and Medical Education) (USA) degree for his contribution in the field of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, by Avalon University School of Medicine, Ohio, (USA) An Institute of National Eminence, Prof. Rao possesses nearly four and half decades of rich and satisfying teaching, research experience in Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Rao has been a part of 13 fellowships, received 47 certificates of honours, guided 4 students to Ph.D. degrees, (Biotechnology), and attended over 36 International & National Conferences, and published 188 research papers between 2017 – 2022, out of the as main author and got gold and silver medals for some of his outstanding papers. Dr. Rao authored 12 Medical textbooks. Prof. Rao is editor and chief editor for 70 national and international journals. Dr. Rao received “The Lifetime Achievement Award”, Distinguished Scientist Award, Indian Achiever’s Award, and India Book Award, and also Dr. Rao, received Recimento International, Asian Biographies, 2022, Award India, on 22/08/2022. Dr. Rao is a Life Member of the World Virology Society, a Life Member of the American Society of Microbiology, and a Life Member of the American Society of Parasitology.
